Tennis Overview.

Hello MHSTC Members!

Miami Hills is proud to offer four tennis courts and two pickleball courts for our members and their guests to use.

With the addition of our new head coach Annika Hansen (working under the tutelage of Michael Neverman, who has moved on and up in the tennis community), below are some of the highlights of what is to come.

Courts may be accessed at anytime during operating hours by checking in at the Front Desk. Teams and programs have first priority for scheduled events, but open courts are available throughout most days.

Children’s and HS Teen Programs in TWO sessions, each four weeks. Skills tend to grow better with consistent practice and instruction.

All Tennis Session Forms may be found on the Forms page linked here.

2024 Session Dates

  • Session 1: June 3-June 28
  • Session 2: July 8-August 2

We will attempt to make up any missed classes due to inclement weather the week of August 5, or a pro-rata refund will be given at the end of summer. At sign-up, if a vacation date is known, you may omit this date when sending in payment. All payments will be made to MHSTC. Sign up forms will be available on May 6 – enroll early as some classes have a cap on the number of students.

Pickleball Equipment will be available to sign out at the front desk. Bring your friends! Tennis and Pickleball are social sports, and we are all here to have fun—spread the word and we will have a great summer! See you on the court!

Children’s Programs

These programs are designed to start your children early, help them grow their skills and develop a lifelong love of tennis. All three programs are open to members and non-members—please share our club’s program if your son or daughter wants to learn with a friend or family member that’s not a member!

We will still be offering three levels of classes for the kids:

  • Pee Wee – Ages 4-9, brand new to tennis, Tennis 101 with focus on basic skills.
  • Beginner – Ages 8-11, new to tennis, or have had basic lessons before.
  • Intermediate – Ages 11-14, some lessons, skill improvement, beginning match play.

Teen & High School Programs

Geared for the competitive High School tennis player to improve over the summer. Open to members and non-members.

Team: Team play continues this summer, with matches rotating on Friday afternoons at other local summer clubs. This program will require dedication to improve skills. Practice will be once a week, for three hours, match play will be another day with weather the determining factor.

HS Hit Clinic: Two sessions a week, focus on strategy and shot development.

Adult Tennis Programs

There are going to be some great enhancements to the adult program for 2024!

Adult Learn to Play Clinics: Ever wanted to learn to play tennis? Haven’t played for a while and skills a little rusty? We are here for you! Stay tuned for the schedule for Adult Learn to Play clinics—everything from Tennis 101 to specific skill improvement. These will be on Saturday mornings and bring your friends (non-members welcome).

Adult Cardio: This popular clinic will be back, at night, twice a week! Bring your friend and get your sweat on while meeting new people and having fun at the club! New this year…more PICKLEBALL! With so many requests from our club members, we are adding a PICKLEBALL program for more fun on the court.

Please welcome Nick Mendoza—a retired P&G Exec with a PASSION for this game. Nick will be offering lessons, and fun monthly socials for all—bring a friend and learn what this fast-growing game is about! The full schedule will be posted in the Club entryway and online for you to sign up!
